FallsTalk™

FallsTalk is an evidence-based program designed for older adults who have fallen. This free program will help participants identify why they are falling and make changes to reduce or prevent falls.

What to Expect

Via the telephone, a trained facilitator will talk with you about your recent experience with falls. You will track and make note of the falls, near falls, and losses of balance you may experience while you participate in the program. In weekly conversations with your facilitator, you will discuss your insights about falls prevention and what your notes reveal. Together, you and your facilitator will explore balance situations of concern to you. You will decide what solutions are right for you. Calls are no longer than an hour, some 15 minutes or less. The program is typically 6 weeks long.

Who Should Participate

FallsTalk at ALTCEW is for adults ages 60 or older who have fallen in the past two years and want to decrease or avoid falling in the present and future. Participants need to be able to problem solve. FallsTalk is especially appropriate for mobility-limited, housebound, or group-shy participants.
